I had been waiting for the longest for this place to open. I was impressed from the first time I visited! From the warm environment to the personable staff to the wonderful music playing. I was pleased with the food and drinks. Another biggie for me was the clean, good bathroom which is a huge plus in my book! I already have favorite servers and bartenders! The owner is great as well. I appreciate his willingness to hear constructive feedback. This is a must try in my opinion!

ive only eating with carryout the food is good. the staff needs to be more aware of customers coming in when it's slow because there was a lot of horsing around in the back when I entered and was left standing in the front for sometime. eventually when I was noticed the staff was friendly.

Closedown for remodeling. It's been closed for about a year. I wish they were open so I can get a delicious turkey burger.

Nice place to stumble upon I think. I liked it, real friendly manager/bartender (double duty) I'm really not sure what the 'Rude Staff' or 'Lazy' comments were about in the other reviews... I was treated just fine, got my food and drinks fast, got checked up on a few times and got my bill fast with out having to wait long at all. I had the spaghetti which has a little bit of a spicy kick to it - and there's A LOT of it too, I told the guy 'I'm not too hungry so maybe just a soup or something' he said they had a lighter lunch menu that I could order off of... I took a peek, saw spaghetti... was less than $10 including the soup I was gonna get anyway. GAME ON, got about a quarter of it down before I had to stop. Took the rest home :) I loved the garlic bread it was crispy and just a bit charred on the edges but soft what light beyond thy window breaks... wait what? no really though nice and soft on the inside :) Clean open atmosphere and service was good, they were slow though, so I can't really judge it that well. Nice place though, lotta wood features and decor. I'd go back again. Not super super, but definitely not a onsey or twosy... Smokers - if it's raining there's no awning FYI

Food was okay...Service mediocre!!! Be sure to inform about sensitivities to fish and other seafood!! The fries were cooked in the same oil as the fish... and it was so smoky in there. .. I know my clothes reek of fried food residue!!

The manager is very nice and accommodating, but I think he needs to hire more quality people. The waitresses walk around like they have attitudes, they take forever to get to you, and don't acknowledge you by simply saying "i'll be with you in just a moment." I do plan on going back just because the manager is so nice, and my boyfriend did tell me the food is pretty good. I hope that i can write a much better review next time!

When we got there the place was basically empty, but we waited about 15 minutes before someone came to seat us. Then after they old us we could seat our selves, I had to ask them to wipe done the table because it was sticky and had spills on it. As I make my way to the bathroom, I basically had to march because my shoes kept sticking to the floor. Once I got ready to dry my hands, there was no hand towel for me to do so. The waitress we had asked my aunt if she wanted coffee but did not ask my cousin who was sitting at the table when she asked her. Mind you this girl looked like Side Show Bob....so when I got back to the table she brought them coffee but did not even ask me if I wanted any. I told her we needed a couple of more minutes to look at the menu, that we wanted lemon for our water, and that I wanted orange juice. She automatically caught an attitude. They only had white and rye bread for toast, but the menu stated there were other kinds of bread for toast. Everyone else that came in after us received their food before us, which caused a huge problem because my aunt is diabetic. So when she confronted the waitress about it, she lied and said that those people came in before us, which was not true. How are you going to argue with the customer? My french toast and my aunts pancakes were dry. My hash brows were brown to the point they looked burnt. My aunt's were undercooked. I had to go and get the waitress and tell her we wanted the check. She even had the nerve to think she was getting a tip....yeah she got a tip...on a napkin that said you should have stayed in school...

Had lunch here today with my husband. The service was a little slow considering there were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. The food was good and I would eat there again.

I never knew this place existed. I attended a business meeting here and was pleasantly surprised. The food was good, the service was great, there was even a dj for some mood music. The bartender offered the pint and 'big' glass for my beer. I choose the pint $3 Bud. Nice clean glass and cold beer - yum. Being that I work not too far from the place I will try a take out lunch.

This place has changed so much since my original review. The management needs a reality check. One manager is younger and a relative of the owner. He is rude, brash, and needs a lesson in customer service. My order was not what I expected so I alerted the waitress, she reviewed the menu to see if my request was valid. I thought buffalo chicken sandwich came with breaded fried chicken not baked chicken, WEIRD. She alerted the manager and he CONFRONTED ME. "Well what do you wanna do?" Um excuse me how dare you approach me like that. His tone and proximity to me was very uncomfortable. "Well we will make you another one" NO "We can make you something else, what do you wanna do" UMM nothing I don't trust you guys making my food now. I just wanna leave. "Well you need to pay for that Coke you drank" WOW really dude...here take your $2 for this coke. I left the restaurant in tears, another waitress followed me out to the parking lot to console me and apologize for the management's behavior. I use to like this place, and according to YELP I'm the "duchess" at this restaurant, well YELP you can take back the title because I don't want it.

If I could give this place a 0 star rating I would. Where do I begin? Actually, this was my second time coming to the restaurant and It will be my last. The waitress/hostess was very rude. She actually went on to say you can just sit anywhere then she walked away. Yes, walked away, no menu or anything. The bartender came over and gave us menus and asked if we wanted a drink and appetizer. After the bartender took our orders, here SHE come with menus, I said we already ordered. All she said was humpff and walked away again. Now after we finished our meals and drinks, mind the so-called waitress didn't come over to ask if we needed anything or if the food was cooked correctly nothing, she was on the other side of the restaurant texting. So now we are finished, the BARTENDER came and gave us our check, so since I was treating, I paid my bill and gave the BARTENDER a nice tip for servicing us. The waitress came after she seen us put out coats on and asked how we were going to pay the bill, I said if you were doing your job as a waitress you would have known that we already paid our bill. She had the nerve to say well were is the tip, I said your tip of the day is change employment because a waitress you are not. I will NEVER step foot in this place again and if you had any sense you would not either. Owners need to know that service is key.

I agree with charity, the young manager whose name I believe is Mike is not customer friendly. A friend and I went there in a Tuesday afternoon for a couple of drinks and food. The bar tender who's name I'll leave out was friendly and polite. So we ordered the 50 cent wings and a double shot of grey goose which we were told cost $8.75 which wasn't bad so we ordered that. When it comes time to pay the bill the bar tender stated that the manger told her that drink is $12 and he changed it on our bill without anyone telling us. So of course I asked to speak to him and told him we were told this drink was $8.75 he said she made a mistake it's $12, I said we'll I'm not paying for her mistake and as a manger he should know better than to change a customer's bill without informing them. He charged the $8.75 but had a bad attitude and was unhappy to do so. I can spend my money else where that's why the place is always empty most likely I give it another 6 months before its closed up. The simple fix would have been to say this drink is $12 but since she told u $8.75 I'll honor that with a smile on his face, and he would have had a RETURNING PAYING CUSTOMER! My first review was good but a bad manger can change everything.

Calumet Oaks R&B was somewhat of a subtle surprise. I checked it out for the first time with my dad; but both times I've been I had a great experience. I only had one concern-- I probably wouldn't have ventured out to Cal Oaks R&B if he hadn't taken me there first. "Word of mouth" will definitely help; the location may hurt them a bit. Otherwise, the overall service was great and the food definitely made the trip worthwhile.

This has become one of my favorite places to eat for lunch and breakfast. I work near this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised the first time I visited. I ordered the Atlantic Salmon and when I received my food it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Everything, I have tried taste fresh and delicious. Food like this is hard to find in the Southside Chicagoland area. And the prices are great too. I treated a friend to lunch one day. We both ordered lunch specials and then I took the Salmon dinner to go. My bill was a little over $30. You can't get 3 full meals for that price at many places. I also like the wait staff. They are attentive and remember their regular customers.
